Story[ | ]
No one could deny that Dr. Schmidt was a genius. He published five theses as an undergraduate which went on to have enormous impact on the scientific world. Even after that, Dr. Schmidt continued to shock his peers with new discoveries. He was unparalleled in chemistry and dedicated all his time to experiments except for the minimal time required to sleep. He didn't mind repeating boring experiments hundreds of times to get the desired result. In the end, the hard-working genius earned the highest award in his field at the age of thirty, cementing his legacy.
Despite his success, few people flocked to his side. It was simple to see why. Dr. Schmidt was a madman, obsessed with his work and unburdened by ethics. There were constant rumors that he was doing forbidden experiments using people. There were also whispers about his involvement with the mysterious death of a fellow researcher. No proof was ever offered to back up these accusations, but they clung to him anyway. Perhaps it was too much for him, because Dr. Schmidt vanished one day with nary a trace. The world mourned the loss of such genius, but those who knew him well feared for the future.
Soon after, rumors began to spread that a ghost dressed in all white was roaming the city, kidnapping people. Rumors like this persist all the time so little was thought of it, until the police realized that missing persons reports were actually increasing. At first, they suspected human trafficking from one of the older organized crime rings. They built their case and raided the basement of an abandoned building they believed was the center of the operation. But what they found was no crime den. It was a hellish laboratory.
The place was filled with mangled corpses, hacked up and mutilated for unknown means. More terrifying still was the discovery that some of the bodies in the piles were still drawing breath, having not yet succumbed to their terrible wounds. The officers realized these were the missing persons, and worst of all was that the culprit was right there in front of them. Dr. Schmidt simply continued with his experiment, injecting a toxic substance into a bound captive. Just like his prisoner, Dr. Schmidt's skin was gray and waxy. His eyes glowed yellow, stunning the officers into silence. And when they finally approached to apprehend the mad doctor, he filled the room with deadly poison. Amidst the misery and death, Dr. Schmidt walked free to continue his atrocities elsewhere.
His experiments are far from over, and Dr. Schmidt prowls even now for more unwilling volunteers to test his concoctions on. To this end, the huge variety of people and creatures in Hyper Universe was perfect for his terrible designs. He joined up with great glee, eager to continue his work in a world where he could do as he pleased and fight off anyone who tried to stop him.
