Ryta is one of the playable Hypers in Hyper Universe.
Introduction[edit | edit source]
This hyper can strike from anywhere, thanks to her mobility and stealth skills. Her stealth in particular helps her both ambush and escape ambushes, freeing her to close distance with targets of opportunity and take them down at will.
Story[edit | edit source]
Galactic Year 12,871: The human colony world H-12 was contacted by an alien race with an order to submit to their rule.
Galactic Year 12,873: H-12 council voted unanimously to resist any and all threats to their sovereignty, and meet such threats with deadly force.
Galactic Year 12,878: Alien transmissions indicate that negotiations have ceased and H-12 will be invaded if surrender were not immediately offered. H-12 did not respond.
Galactic Year 12,880: A group of 100 volunteers were selected for rigorous testing and training for a colonization project, to ensure continuation of human civilization in a worst-case scenario.
Galactic Year 12,883: The alien invasion begins. Alien forces number 300 warships to the human's 12. Over the course of 48 hours the aliens destroyed approximately 98% of the livable surface of H-12, and 85% of the human population. Miraculously, the emergency colony ship escaped the attack with no immediate losses to their crew of 100.
Galactic Year 12,884: Alien forces declare the purging of H-12 complete after reducing the human population to 0. The planet is re-designated C-88, and scout vessels are launched to locate and eliminate any remaining humans in the local systems.
Ryta was the youngest of the escaping colonists at just 13 years old. Her tests had revealed her to have superlative mental and physical abilities, exactly what was needed to rebuild society in the event of catastrophe. Her parents, having no special talents to offer, were not selected for the project but were overjoyed that their daughter would have a chance at a new beginning. They had no regrets as the ship lifted off, barring the gates to the launch site with their bodies as the aliens attacked.
For Ryta, however, her life became nothing but regrets. In her dreams she saw her parents, her friends, and her leaders, all begging her to succeed or begging her to trade places with them. Her survivor's guilt plagued her night and day, as it did the other colonists as the weeks and months rolled on from the destruction of their home. And once the aliens learned of their escape, the colonists had to work tirelessly to stay one step ahead of their deadly pursuers. Tensions ran high on the ship, depression wracked the crew, and their only counselor committed suicide in the face of all the pressure heaped upon them.
Six months out from launch, the ship was intercepted by an alien scout vessel. As the warning sirens blared, the crew grimly took their stations and prepared to fight for their lives. Ryta took her position as well, power armor humming and shotgun in hand. She was one of the few soldiers left on the ship, and safeguarding this last bastion of humanity was her task. There was no hesitation or fear on the ship that day, just a hardened determination to survive and destroy the invaders. They owed that much to those who had sacrificed their lives to see them escape. For them, death would be a welcome respite.
