Perseus is one of the playable Hypers in Hyper Universe.
Introduction
Perseus is a flexible defender who can both initiate battles and counter enemy attacks. Most of his skills are defense-oriented, allowing him to manage enemies more comfortably. However, his long cooldowns require careful planning to make the most of.
Story
Acrisius, the king of Argos, was given a prophecy that he would be killed by his own grandson. He so feared this prophecy that he imprisoned his daughter Danae in a bronze chamber so that she would never conceive a child. However, Zeus became infatuated with her and entered the chamber as a rain of pure gold. Danae gave birth to Perseus, the demigod son of Zeus. Acrisius intended to kill his newborn grandson, but could not risk the wrath of Zeus. Instead, he locked Danae and Perseus in a wooden chest and threw them in the sea.
They did not die in that box, however. A kind fisherman from a small island kingdom saved them and took them in. Perseus grew up to be a healthy young man, unremarkable except for his strength. But his extraordinary destiny began to unfold when the king of the kingdom fell in love with his mother Danae. He saw Perseus as an obstacle and sought his demise, so he ordered him to bring back the head of the fearsome Medusa. People thought that Perseus would refuse the king's request because Medusa was a powerful monster whose gaze turned people to stone. However, Perseus feared the consequences of refusing the king's request, and so he departed to battle the beast.
Athena, the goddess of wisdom, pitied Perseus and decided to help him. She lent her divine armaments to him to aid him in battle. These were her shield Aegis, Ares' sword Harpe, Hades' helmet Kynee, and Hermes' winged sandals Talaria. Perseus found Medusa and confronted her using these weapons, first hiding himself with the Kynee. He used Aegis as a mirror to find Medusa instead of looking at her directly, and decapitated her using Harpe. This triumph was to be but the first of his many adventures.
Medusa was dead, but her gaze still turned everything to stone. Perseus mounted Medusa's head on the Aegis and used it to save Andromeda from being sacrificed to the sea monster Ceto. Adromeda was daughter of the King of Aethiopia, offered as sacrifice to placate Poseidon, the God of the Sea. She was so moved by his heroism that she decided to marry Perseus, making him the King of Aethiopia after her father's death. Perseus proved to be a just and kind ruler, who kept peace in his land for years.
This is the legend of Perseus that everyone knows. He was a hero who lived a full life with the help of the gods. However, Perseus's real destiny was one of tragedy. On the day of his wedding, powerful monsters attacked and kidnapped Andromeda. Perseus, agonized and enraged, left on a journey to rescue his love. He defeated many monsters across the world but could not find her. He began to think the beasts took Andromeda to another world, and so Perseus departed for Hyper Universe in hopes of finally finding his betrothed.
